Inspiration & Passion 

"Welcome to my website! My passion for music has allowed me the honor of working on incredible projects as a conductor. Each concert is a unique opportunity to honor the composers' legacy and bring their music to audiences - no matter their age - around the world in an inspiring and transformative way.
Music has the incredible power to reach the heart directly. As a conductor and educator I am dedicated to creating experiences that allows to share that magic with others, encouraging and empowering meaningful changes not only in the heart and spirit but in the mind of those who listen.

Costa Rican conductor Gabriela Mora-Fallas is known for her energetic, passionate, and inspiring conducting style and personality.

She participated in different music festivals and workshops in America and Europe, including the National Orchestral Institute, the American Academy of Conducting, the Pierre Monteux School for Conductors, and the Hot Springs Music Festival in the USA. She also participated in The Festival de Inverno de Campos de Jordao in Brazil, the International Conducting Workshop in Bulgaria, the Orchestra Sinfonica d’ Este Conducting Masterclass in Italy, and Seminars in Costa Rica. She completed her master’s degree studies in Orchestral Conducting at the Boston Conservatory in the USA. 

After concluding her studies in Boston, she returned to Costa Rica to actively participate in the musical scene of the country, serving as guest and cover conductor of the National Symphony Orchestra of Costa Rica, becoming the first Costa Rican female conductor to guest conduct the NSO in subscription season concerts in its more than seventy years of history. For those collaborations she received the National Music Award in Conducting, given by the Ministry of Culture of Costa Rica in 2017.

Gabriela strives to support and champion new works, particularly written by women and Latin American composers, premiering in Central America compositions by Lilly Boulanger, Ester Magi, Jennifer Higdon, Augusta Holmes, Fanny Mendelssohn, and Joan Tower. Recent performances in the US included Revuelta's “Sensemaya,” Florence Price’s Symphony No.1, and Ellen Taaffe Zwilich Bassoon Concerto and Ester Magi Symphony, with The University of Texas University Orchestra and the Butler School of Music Symphony Orchestra. Other collaborations include her participation with well-known artists such as Nancy Fabiola Herrera, Marcin Dylla, Toby Oft, Eugene Rousseau, Fred Sauter, Nestor Torres,  among others. 

A strong believer in Music as an instrument for positive social change and peace, Gabriela supports community and youth concerts. Besides her work with professional ensembles, she has also devoted her time teaching and working with young musicians in her home country at the University of Costa Rica, the National System of Music Education, the National Institute of Music, the Youth Symphony Orchestra of El Salvador, and in United States with The University of Texas University Orchestra and Symphony Orchestras among other local youth and community orchestras.

Recently, Gabriela earned a DMA in conducting at The University of Texas in Austin, and served as Teaching Assistant at the Butler School of Music and Co-conductor of the UT University Orchestra. Ms. Mora-Fallas is a 2023-2024 Mentee of the Taki Alsop Conducting Fellowship.
